Commitment Statement

I am a social worker first and foremost, the clinical license came later, then meditation, mindfulness and energy healing all layered on top. Who I am, at the core of my being, is a social worker. And at the heart of social work is social justice, which has been gently threaded throughout the tapestry of my life and is at the heart of my work.

I am committed to meeting each client where they’re at, and honoring their journey.

Women Centered Philosophy

When I say the feminine I don’t mean gender. I mean the feminine principle that is living–or suppressed–in both men and women. The feminine principle attempts to relate. Instead of breaking things off into parts, it says, Where are we alike? How can we connect? Where is the love? Can you listen to me? Can you see me? ....The great work of our time is to bring the feminine into this culture."

Maiden

The healing quest of the maiden is twofold, discovering one’s innate power as well as defining one’s authentic self!

This is a turning towards one’s self in the midst of opening to the world… Balancing the outward exploration of this stage with inward exploration of the self. Important aspects of this exploration include…

  • uncovering and claiming one’s own agency, natural beauty, sexuality, gender, talents and gifts

  • choosing a direction to move in based on this awakening of one’s authenticity

  • beginning to notice and seek to remove obstacles within that are holding one back

Healing one’s personal trauma as well as exploring trauma in the family and ancestral lineage is a deep and meaningful dive at any stage of the journey. These days, I’m seeing plenty of younger women gently exploring these aspects as well.

In our mainstream culture, void of ritual, there is little external guidance for integration of the self such as coming of age rites of passage.  Therefore we are often not doing this integration work in an organic timeline.  But it’s ok, we can do this healing work at any age and at any stage; and we can trust the process once we begin, to flow as it needs to.

Mother

The healing journey of motherhood is a deepening into one’s self.  It is in this deepening that we discover a wellspring of inner nourishment that is the hallmark of the Divine Feminine.  The journey of motherhood requires one to be nourished enough to support the nourishment of another.

Motherhood is a journey of deepening the exploration of one’s roots, matriarchal lineage, gaining new awareness and respect for the mothers that came before us; while simultaneously opening further to explore and gain insights around our personal wounding.  This is a journey of becoming, grounded in the self, with the support of mother earth, with the support of other women… It is a time in which we create community… we grow beyond ourselves… We heal not in isolation but together.

In motherhood we open to allowing… Allowing ourselves to trust, learning to be held and nurtured by other women, Mother Earth, Father Sky, the Divine Feminine, all beings, as well as the elemental nature of this world.   Motherhood brings us into greater connection with the rhythm of the natural world around us, and the energetic portals between the worlds of birthing and dying.

As we respond to the calling of motherhood we learn to open our hearts to allow for layers of healing… in this softening we come to know compassion… Compassion for ourselves, for each other, and for all beings fills us and flows outwards–imprinting our communities with the heart of compassion.

(Please note: “Motherhood” in this context is a psycho-spiritual phase of development that all women move through on their journey into wholeness; not limited to women who physically birth children).

The Crone

Each stage of life is precious, and each stage builds energetically from one to the next. Whatever work is incomplete in the previous stage(s) rolls into the next. The healing quest of the crone years is completion through integration and synthesis. In these years, beginning with menopause, the aging body gives way to allow a greater emphasis on the spiritual realm. While it's true that women may get sidetracked into chasing after eternal youth, there’s a growing movement towards embracing the natural rhythms of life, including the mystical beauty of the Crone years.

This is a time of embracing our innate wisdom, and honing our immense powers; which some might call magical, as indeed they are. Yet these powers stem from the simplest ways of being —present, grounded and connected, mindful and open.

In our current western culture there’s an enormous barrier to overcome at each stage of our journey in addition to the organic ones I’m outlining here, namely misogyny. Yet despite the obstacles, the energy of Divine Feminine is rising up from our roots, bubbling up within our energy fields, and streaming forth from higher energy sources supporting our evolution.

One of the biggest obstacles for myself as a Black American, when seeking a therapist, was the feeling of disconnect and a sense of embarrassment, that sometimes comes from feeling like an outsider in a white world. Lynn has been able to help me heal and grow because of her awareness of cultures and attention to detail. The impact of her ability to attune to her clients cannot be overstated. This has been an immense help in our work, and I believe it would translate to her work with anyone.

I am a lesbian and I felt accepted and not judged. Her abilities to help me see whatever the issues were and move beyond them is definitely a talent Lynn has.
